A friend introduced me to Dr. Joe Dispenza and I feel my mind has expanded ever since I started to dig deeper into his work. I will try to simplify and share with you how I understood the value of being in the present moment and doing things with an intention.
Our brains are like a hardrive storing information from our life experiences and learnings from the past. Everything we think and feel is saved information that has been conditioned by past events.
When we think about something from our past (a memory) there is a chemical reaction happening in our body due to that thought. Those reactions are called feelings. When these thoughts and feelings from the past keep coming continuously, they become patterns that represent who we are in the present.
This invited me to pay attention to my own thoughts and helped me realize I was waking up everyday with the same pattern. As soon as I opened up my eyes, I started to think about my to-do list, my problems, comparing myself on social media, thinking about things that were missing for me to succeed, all thoughts from a scarcity mindset that came from my necessity to give results or achievements, learned on my past. This of course, made me instantaneously feel stressed, anxious, worried, unfulfilled, sad, frustrated, you name it! I was given a new day of life everyday and by 9am I was already having these feelings.
I realized my thoughts revolved around my results and they were holding me back from enjoying the process of my work. I wanted to show my parents and closest circle, once again that I could do big things to get their validation, specially with a job out of the ordinary corporate world.
I was in autopilot. I was doing this for so many days in a row that it became a habit without me realizing it. It had become part of my subconscious mind. The only way I could change this was switching off the autopilot and start paying more attention to my thoughts and the intention behind my actions. (Notice how this is yet another example of how awareness is the starting point of the changes we want to experience.)
I invite you to close you eyes for a minute and imagine you are squeezing the juice of a lemon inside your mouth. Feel it, taste it.
How did that feel? What did you experience in your body? Did you actually taste the lemon in real life? No. When I did this exercise for the first time I thought: How was I feeling my mouth watery then?
Only by thought I created these feelings.
With this exercise It clicked for me. If the negative thoughts I was having from past events in my life were creating these low feelings within me, it was also possible to create the opposite. Just as we created the reaction to the lemon juice in our bodies by only thinking about it, by creating new experiences in the present, I will be able to have better thoughts and experience more elevated feelings as a consequence.
As Dr. Joe says: “Since experience enriches the brain and creates an emotion that signals the body, when you continuously create an inward experience that is real as an outer experience, over time you’re going to change your brain and body, just like any real experience would.”
The way to access moments of joy, happiness, gratitude or love had to begin by choosing to give meaning from within, from who I am, to all the things I was already doing. Focus on what’s aligned to my own purpose and take small daily actions with that intention.
People are going through life with so many responsibilities and duties that it’s easy to get lost in the way and fall into the “auto-pilot zone”.
The thing is, we can desire many things in life, and say that we are “working hard” for them, but…are we truly focusing on what really matters?
If the majority of the things you are doing and working for right now doesn’t have a meaning for you, then quite frankly…what’s the whole point?
In the past couple of months I’ve been so intentional with my work, knowing that all the small steps I’m taking are aligned with my purpose, being aware of the meaning, that I’m thrilled of the results it’s going to bring.
And you wanna know the best part of it?…. I’M FREAKING ENJOYING THE RIDE!
I genuinely want to help others that are where I once was, feeling lost or stuck trying to find their passion or something that makes them feel fulfilled. I feel joyful and fulfilled when I am able to help people access consciousness over their thoughts, identity, choices or lifestyle. If I act from this genuine desire and not from wanting to please or demonstrate others, I will start living intentionally.
And read this carefully…YOU ARE WORTHY OF IT!!
Making time in this hectic/busy life for yourself is what will make you step out of the “stressful zombie” costume and start living a life full of peace, joy, hope and love.
Isn’t that what we all want in the end?
My hope is that you start filtering external influences, opinions, ideas, goals or definitions of success that don’t make sense with who you are and start choosing to act with intention to create fulfilling experiences that will connect you to elevated emotions and keep you enjoying the present moment.
